Sinopsis:
Dua tahun setelah kejadian di Final Fantasy
VII, pemulihan atas kerusakan pada planet Gaia akibat Meteor yang
hampir menghancurkan sang planet mulai diupayakan, saat itu penduduk
Midgar yang berhasil bertahan hidup mendirikan sebuah kota baru di
bagian luar kota Midgar (kota itu dinamai Edge).
Namun, sebuah penyakit yang bernama Geostigma (Seikon Shōkōgun?, lit. Sindrom Luka Planet) muncul. Penyakit ini menyebar dengan cepat dan terbukti berakibat fatal bagi penderitanya, dan anak-anaklah yang paling rentan terhadap penyakit ini.
